In Oslo last week it was evident that the scope of change management needs internally as well as between stakeholders in the Norwegian market cannot be stressed enough. Consider the following:
- From now on SMEs should send an electronic invoice to government authorities, or the government authority should go somewhere else
- From now on buyers within government authorities should demand electronic invoices when purchasing whatever
It is the same message and none of it will come automatically! In the same way as almost every CRM system or ERP system takes ages to implement partly because we keep using our old excel-sheets none of the above will happen just because the government says so.
Just because you have outsourced accounting and tell them to tell suppliers they should send electronic invoices it will not happen. Even if management says it is ok and that there is a mandate to enforce changed behaviour – it. will. not. happen.
Why? Because the art of change is complicated however not impossible, the need for change and the willingness to change if often more on the top management team table than on the rest of the organisations tables.
Here is some reflections to read through, just to get you thinking!
