In a recent interview with Alexander Reay from ITOSDA, a non profit organization driven by peers within the IT development area, he told about his view on IT development and CIO challenges. There are hardly any parts of any business that is not IT dependent or IT driven. Yet IT is in many cases fighting the battle of being a part of the starting game of business development, not the ending game of administration and execution. At the recent Nordic IT sourcing & Innovation Summit in Stockholm one CIO spoke about being an introvert or extrovert. Are many CIOs introverts? Can you present and push through a business development action if you are an introvert? This CIO thought no, you cannot but may use an extrovert person that can present and motivate the necessary stakeholders. What is your view?
IT decisions are moving further out in the organizations at the same time as legal aspects of for instance Software as a service agreements place greater demands on any business. Consumerization drives IT development and it is safe to say that the need for innovative CIOs will not get less important as businesses and business processes get more and more disruptive!
