As you may know, we do not stream our summits due to their strong emphasis on face-to-face discussions in smaller, more intimate groups. With that in mind, here’s a brief summary based on my observations from the two days.
Day 1 | Keynote – Supplier Relationship Management
Thierry Blomet, Senior Vice President, Global Sourcing at Kemira | Finding Strategic Value in Your Supplier Base in a Time-Pressed World
Thierry Blomet’s keynote focused on Kemira’s approach to Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) as a key part of their strategy and sustainability goals. He highlighted that developing strong supplier management practices is an ongoing journey.
Tierry emphasized the need to master various facets of supplier management, including performance evaluations, risk management, and sustainability, in order to drive cost competitiveness and reduce complexity. He also discussed how to divide focus based on the nature of engagements – whether they are strategic business reviews, tactical or operational.
One of the key points Thierry brought up was the power dynamics within the value chain – specifically the SRM versus CRM debate.
This revolves around whose ecosystem of tools and data you integrate into, depending on the customer or buyer’s scope and significance. This critical topic surfaced repeatedly throughout the summit in different shapes and forms.
Ultimately, it’s about execution – fostering a culture of action over inaction.
