EBG | Play: Commercial Risks: Collaborative Solutions

What do you get when you gather three men and a woman to discuss how to tackle current issues in the supply chain? Considering and creating a checklist to develop ahead? You get an energized session filled with reflections and concrete touch points for You who work with procurement and your supply chain.

Find solutions, think about your contracts as marriage guidance, not a prenup for a divorce, and then build them to support the way that we’re all going to need to work slightly differently going forward.

Transcript from Commercial Risks: Collaborative Solutions

Reflections from the past months

Commercial relationships are stopped.

There is a problem in the flow of cash in currency and capital. There is a lack of visibility of what is going on in different countries. There is completely disruptive restrictions of borders in terms of what can move and how it can move and stuck in the middle of all of that.

Our commercial, legal, procurement, supply chain teams, trying to get visibility of what’s happening, and struggling in the face of everybody else, trying to do it at the same time.

And you know, in all of our countries, wherever we are, there’s some great examples. If we look at medical equipment, that has been in demand by everybody. At the same time, pretty much all from the same suppliers…

And now we’re trying to work out whether or not we can get it and frantically we’re looking around for our contracts, a lot of commercial agreements to work out, who’s got to do what, to try and unpick it?

And I don’t think it’s an understatement to say that on a scale of big, real, hairy challenges – this is right up there.
