Volvo Cars join Sourcing Outlook 2020

EBG have had an eye for Lovisa Söderholm, Vice President Procurement Hardware at Volvo Cars for many years and we are now being able to share her experiences! EBG have had an eye for Volvo Cars for years too and continue to share their journey in a market changing really fast.

On October 8th you too can learn from Lovisa and other peers and experts. On October 8th the 4th annual Sourcing Outlook is held and in 2020 you can choose to join on-site in Stockholm or online. Registration take place as usual and you do not have to decide now how you want to join.

Below the keynote Lovisa will be sharing and the discussion topics following her keynote.

A year on and a pandemic wiser – what happened to sustainability and agile strategies?

Cars are becoming ”computer on wheels” and the need for speed to market and behavior responsiveness is constantly increasing. As is the demand and desire to be a part of creating a more sustainable future. What does that mean for a procurement organization in a car manufacturing company becoming a provider of mobility solutions?

A year ago at Sourcing Outlook we learned from Volvo Cars. How they in the midst of changing the entire corporate structure and market offer have really highly set sustainability targets. How they are choosing to have 12 weeks program increment planning within global business development which procurement is a vital part of. How they will use their 200 BSEK purchasing power to make a real difference for our planet and the people on it.

And so came COVID-19. During this session we will continue to learn about how Volvo Cars are developing their sustainability efforts and agile way of working. We will learn how that may or may not have been affected by the pandemic and what will happen next.

  • How does agile affect the Procurement organization, frameworks and hierarchies?
  • In what ways have sustainability efforts developed the past year?
  • What will the road Volvo Cars is on mean to procurement ahead?

Following the keynote – Discuss:

  • How have – if it have – COVID-19 affected strategies and operations at Volvo Cars and your company?
  • How does extensive sustainability efforts fit into a fast paste company working in an agile way?
  • What are pros and cons with an agile framework?
  • Which are the keys to successful agile at scale and what will continuous improvement consist of?

Is agile the way forward?

It is a treat being able to bring up experiences concerning ways to operate and ways to ensure strategies are fulfilled. Today and ahead, more than ever, companies surely will ask how to best be adaptive and how to best act with speed.

About Volvo Cars

Volvo Cars in figures;

  • 705K : Cars sold in 2019
  • 41.5K : Average number of employees
  • 14.3 : 2019 operating profit (bnSEK)

Volvo Car Group in short;

Volvo Car Group (Volvo Cars) is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding (Geely Holding) of China. Our group structure comprises Volvo Cars and our related direct consumer businesses: car subscription service Care by Volvo and mobility company M. Volvo Car Group also includes the sizeable stakes in our strategic affiliates: electric performance brand Polestar (50% owned by Volvo Cars), new Chinese car brand LYNK & CO (30%) and software company Zenuity (50%).

Our 2025 business ambitions

We’re ambitious and we continually challenge ourselves. The global automotive industry is changing, and Volvo wants to lead that change – in safety, connectivity, electrification and autonomous drive technology. Rather than just building and selling premium cars, we will provide our customers with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way.

By the middle of this decade it aims for half of its global sales to be fully electric cars and to generate half of its revenue from its direct consumer business. Volvo Cars is also committed to an ongoing reduction of its carbon footprint, with the ambition to be a climate-neutral company by 2040.

Volvo Cars aims to become a global and diversified mobility service provider. This means new models of car ownership and access, and new attractive services whenever and wherever customers want it. We want to come closer to our customers, so we’re aiming for more than five million direct consumer relationships by the middle of the next decade, creating new sources of recurring revenue.

And we’re aiming to do all this while generating premium-level profitability, driven by increased revenue across all three global sales regions and a broader range of cars, services and customers.
