EBG | Play: How do you lead the digital transformation of your supply chains successfully?

What are your thoughts on how to fulfill a strategy? Especially a strategy that include digitalization? Most specifically a strategy including the change of behavior from a lot of individuals. And we know how easy it is to change behavior – right?

Take part of the On Demand session hosted by Martin Starcke, Director of Global Operational & Tactical Procurement, and Procurement Analytics at LEO Pharma and Bernhard Soltmann, Founder and Managing Director at Allocation Network.

Topics that were brought up were:

  • What role does technology have in successfully transforming supply chains?
  • How can companies overcome the gap between digitalization visions and the here and now?
  • What are your main supply chain development drivers now and ahead and why does that matter?
  • How do you set up technology implementation strategies and goals?
  • How do you ”unlearn old habits” in the organization?
  • In what ways are a provider like Allocation taking into account possible user reluctance to change?
  • Why digitization mustn’t stop with awarding of a contract.

How digitized is your supply chain?

Poll question

A majority of the respondents are about to develop a supply chain digitization strategy. Together with the “not started yet” that make up for more than half of the respondents. And these data are not unique! What they tell EBG is that the hype and what is possible is one thing – it take much longer time in reality to achieve all that all know is possible to achieve. (0% have 100% digital systems in place.)

There is something we should pick up here – supporting professionals where they are actually at and not necessarily ten steps ahead.

Supplier collaboration

Poll question

You should never give the possibility to do a rating between 1-5 given that most choose 3 (not good not bad). Maybe it was the same with the above question where both information management, data insight and communication and governance are perceived equally challenging when it comes to collaborating with suppliers.

Summary

Concretely this session highlight the need to balance both who you choose to collaborate with when it comes to technology providers. Consider the size and scope of your business and choose wisely. Equally important to consider what level of behavior change is needed to reach desired outcome. Should you choose super users or are “super users” appearing based on interest, passion and know how?
