EBG | Insight: Spend control through rapid access to information

Synertrade interviewIn a recent post EBG wrote about studies indicating that an average contract compliance lies at about 30%. How can that be? Why is it so much of company spend is neither under management, control nor influence? Systems not being “filled” with enough data, catalogs and other purchasing options is one key element but according to SynerTrade there is another vital challenge. The challenge finding the correct and valid procurement related data such as RFPs being made, contracts being written and policies being implemented.

A question – how easy do you find it to locate procurement data you need?

That is at least one of the key factors SynerTrade is basing their road to market with. Relevant procurement data need to be found with ease – within three clicks as Andreas Schwarze, SynerTrade, says. He says systems must be easy to use and the data found even though we might be talking about multiple systems across multiple entities across the globe as well as possibly thousands of non procurement skilled people wanting to access the data.

The latter leads up to the other aspect SynerTrade by no means are alone to have recognized, the question is how well systems in the market have caught up with the enormous development we have seen, the way we use and access data as private persons in our private life has to be translated into business to business information exchange. If systems are too complex they wont be used and if goal setting are not taking into account how the regular user will be able to use the system, the targets wont be reached.

“People have to do more in less time. Procurement operations are typically seen as operations that cost money so corporations typically try to cut head count down and systems such as SynerTrade will speed up the process support and speed up efficiency of let’s say the single employee within procurement. So this is really a constant process and evolution that we see – less people, more work but at the same time you see that processes are going to be distributed across the enterprise because you have to offload the work out of the procurement office”…”these people are there to do the strategic work.”

In the below interview Andreas say the above and give his view on what SynerTrade are doing and why as well as give their advice as to how plan for implementing an e-procurement system.
